Catherine K. Blumenkamp
Family and Consumer Sciences, College of Health Sciences, Sam Houston State University

Catherine Kueffer Blumenkamp is interested in the aesthetic, cultural, and collective meanings of design. Her creative work ranges from vernacular design-build projects to apparel design and construction with an emphasis on handcraft and couture. A lifetime of making paired with degrees in cultural anthropology (BA, Columbia University 2001) and apparel design (MPS, Cornell University 2015) has fine-tuned her practice and focus on apparel as an artifact of material culture.  Catherine teaches part-time in the department of Family and Consumer Sciences at Sam Houston State University.
